Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information Nest collects, why, and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it plain. If anything is unclear, please get in touch using the details below.

Who we are

Nest (“Nest”, “we”, “us”) is a baby care tracking app for iPhone, made and run by FREVIAX LTD, and is currently offered in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), the data controller is:

  • FREVIAX LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 17405675.
  • Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
  • Contact: support@nestappbaby.com

If you have a concern we cannot resolve, you can contact the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

The short version

  • Your baby’s records are stored in the United Kingdom (London). Your sign in details are held by Google’s sign in service in the United States, under UK approved safeguards.
  • We do not sell your data, we do not show adverts, and we do not use tracking software.
  • We do not measure how you use the app. There is no usage analytics and no crash reporting.
  • We never use your data, or your baby’s, to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models, and we do not share it with AI companies.
  • Nest never records your voice. If you use voice entry, your speech is turned into text on your phone and nothing you say leaves it.
  • Reminders happen on your phone. Insights are gentle summaries of your own log.
  • You and anyone you invite to your household share the same baby’s records.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect:

  • Your email address.
  • Your name (used to greet you, and shown to others in your household).
  • A password, which is handled securely by our sign in provider (Google Firebase Authentication). We never see your password.
  • An account identifier created by Firebase.
  • Basic technical details our sign in provider records to keep your account safe, such as when you signed in and the internet address your phone used.

Your baby’s details

When you set up a baby profile we collect:

  • Your baby’s name.
  • Date of birth.
  • Gender (optional).

The care log

Nest exists to record your baby’s day. Depending on what you log, this can include:

  • Feeds: breast, bottle, or cup, side fed, whether it was pumped milk or formula, amount in millilitres, and duration.
  • Sleep: duration and where they slept.
  • Medicine: who it was for (baby or parent), the medicine name, the dose, and the unit.
  • Pumping: amount and duration, per breast.
  • Nappies: wet, dirty, or mixed, and nappy colour.
  • Baths.
  • Growth and milestones: the weight and height you choose to record, and the firsts you want to remember.
  • Notes: a free text note you can add to any entry.
  • The date and time of each entry.

Some of this is health related information, about your baby or about you. For example a medicine name and dose, a growth measurement, pumping, or notes you choose to write. Under data protection law this is “special category” data, which needs extra care. We only hold it because you choose to record it. When you set up a child’s profile you confirm that you are their parent or guardian, or have their permission, and you give your explicit consent for us to store the health related entries you go on to log, for your baby and for yourself where an entry is about you. Each entry you add confirms that choice. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the entries, the baby’s profile, or your account. We use this information only to keep the record for you and the people you share your household with, and never for anything else.

Household sharing

Nest lets you invite a partner or co-parent to share your baby’s records. When you do:

  • Everyone in the household can see the same baby profile and the same care log.
  • Each member’s name is visible to the other members.
  • An invite link contains a code and is valid for 7 days, after which it stops working.
  • The person who set the child up (the owner) can remove a member at any time, and a member can leave, both from Profile. That person’s app stops showing the child on its next sync.

Only people you invite can join. You can see who is in your household in the app.

Information kept only on your phone

Some things never leave your device and are not sent to us:

  • Your app preferences (units, feeding preferences).
  • Your reminder schedule and quiet hours.
  • Any running timer, including the one shown on your Lock Screen.
  • Anything you say when using voice entry. Your speech is turned into text on your phone using Apple’s on device speech recognition, and only the entry you confirm is saved to your log. We never record, store, or send your voice.

Insights

Nest shows you gentle summaries of your baby’s day and rhythm, for example feeding and sleep patterns. These are worked out only from the log you have entered, and only ever use your own baby’s information. They are never based on comparing your baby to anyone else, and are never shared or sold.

What we do not collect

  • We do not use advertising identifiers (no IDFA).
  • We do not use usage analytics or crash reporting. Insights only summarise your own log; they do not track how you use the app.
  • We do not collect your location.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not record audio.

Why we use your data, and our lawful basis

We rely on these lawful bases under the UK GDPR:

  • To create your account and run the app (your account and baby details, and the care log): performance of our contract with you.
  • For health related entries and notes (special category data): your explicit consent, given when you set up the child’s profile and confirmed each time you record an entry; withdraw it by deleting them.
  • To let the people you choose share the records (household sharing): our legitimate interest in offering families shared access to the same log.
  • To keep Nest secure, for example checking that requests come from the genuine Nest app and protecting accounts from misuse: our legitimate interest in running a safe service.
  • To send you a verification email when you sign up, and a password reset email when you ask for one: performance of our contract with you.

We do not send marketing email. The only emails we send are the ones you need to use your account: a verification email, and a password reset you request. We do not make any decisions about you by automated means.

Where your data is stored, and who processes it

Your baby’s profile and care log are stored with Google Firebase in the United Kingdom (London), and the parts of Nest that run on our servers run there too. Your sign in details (email address, name and password) are held by Google’s Firebase Authentication service, which runs only in the United States; Google’s data processing terms and its certification under the UK Extension to the Data Privacy Framework cover that transfer. A small number of trusted providers process data for us, only on our instructions and under written data processing terms:

  • Google (Firebase): sign in (in the United States), the database and our server functions (in London), and a device check that confirms requests come from the real Nest app.
  • Resend: delivers the verification and password reset emails we send you. Resend is based in the United States and receives only your email address and the email itself.
  • Apple: distributes the app through the App Store. Voice entry uses Apple’s speech recognition on your phone, not on Apple’s servers.

Where any processing happens outside the UK, it is covered by an appropriate safeguard such as UK approved standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum, or an adequacy decision.

We never sell your data, never share it for advertising, and never use it to train AI or machine learning models.

Amazon links (Nest Picks)

Nest may show product suggestions with affiliate links. If you tap one, you leave Nest and open Amazon in your browser or the Amazon app. At that point Amazon’s own privacy policy applies. We do not share your Nest data with Amazon. Product details such as prices are refreshed from Amazon by our servers without any information about you.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account, baby profile, and care log for as long as your household exists so the records are there when you need them.

You can delete your whole account yourself from Profile, or contact us at support@nestappbaby.com and we will do it for you. Deleting your account removes your email, your sign in, and every baby you look after on your own, along with their logs. A baby you share with a partner passes to them so their records are kept. If you leave a shared household, your name is removed from it and the records stay with the remaining members.

When a baby’s profile is deleted, whether on its own or because you deleted your account, the care log is removed, but we first keep an anonymous summary of that baby’s days: for each day, counts and totals for feeds, sleep, nappies, pumping, medicine, and baths, with only the baby’s gender and age in weeks for context. This summary has no name, no date of birth, no email, no notes, and no account or household reference, and it is stored under a random identifier that is not linked to anything. Because it can no longer be traced back to you or your baby, it is anonymous data under data protection law, so we keep it to understand newborn rhythms in general.

Signing out does not delete your data. It stays safely in your household so it is there when you sign back in.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct data that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your data.
  • Ask us to limit or stop using your data.
  • Ask for your data in a portable format.
  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw your consent to health related entries at any time, by deleting them or by asking us to.

To use any of these, email support@nestappbaby.com. We will reply within one month. You can also delete your account, your baby’s profile, and individual entries yourself in the app. You have the right to complain to the ICO, though we would appreciate the chance to help first.

Children’s data

Nest is used by parents and carers to record information about their own child. The account holder must be 18 or over and must be the child’s parent or guardian, or have their permission. The child does not use the app themselves, and we do not knowingly let anyone under 18 open an account.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your household’s records is restricted by security rules so only you and the members you invite can read them. Data that lives only on your phone stays on your phone. If we ever discover a breach that puts you at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change we will update this page and the date at the top. Your continued use of Nest after a change means you accept the updated policy.
